What is CBD?

 CBD & Hemp

So what is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol, which is an important compound that is found in hemp and cannabis. This chemical - produced naturally in the cannabis plant - has an impact on  the body’s endocannabinoid system in a positive way but has absolutely none of the psychoactive (or "tripping") side effects that we associate with the other part of the cannabis plant, the THC.

Cannabidiol / CBD is both naturally occurring and 100% legal in the UK and many other countries (USA etc.). It is a substance that has received more attention in recent years because of its health benefits.

Our CBD drops and biscuits contain a special blend of cannabinoid-rich oils extracted from the highest quality organic hemp. The hemp itself  is grown from carefully selected seeds planted in fertile soil free of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and heavy metals. We are always thinking about the quality of our product and our customers that consume it - your pets.

Our CBD producer's third-party tested laboratory used CO2 extraction as a means of getting the CBD out of the hemp. This is the best process for extracting the full range of cannabinoid from plant material without degrading the good stuff.

What are the benefits to using CBD?
There are numerous potential benefits that CBD can have on your pet’s endocannabinoid system - the central system that processes the body's multiple core functions such as digestion, anxiety, mood, pain, inflammation and sleep.

Our CBD oil is also mixed with a base oil, called MCT. Another acronym! Sorry, we did warn you that this was the science bit!

MCT stands for Medium-chain triglycerides, which are triglycerides with two or three fatty acids. Healthy fats. Athletes use them to supplement their diet, it is good for the heart and can help with weight loss. MCT comes from things like coconut oil.

Why use Animal Pharm products?
We love our pets. And anything that we can do to help them have an even better day is a good thing. Whether it's using our products to destress and manage anxiety that your pet might have, or to manage pain they are feeling, to help their joints or banish symptoms of allergies. If we can give an extra bounce in their step, that's a good thing. Isn't it!?

Are there any adverse side effects of using the biscuits?
Both our biscuits and oils are completely safe. They are non-toxic, non-psychoactive and non-habit forming.

Our customers and those veterinarians using the product have reported no negative side effects.

If your pet is already taking medication for a pre-existing condition, then of course we would recommend caution and give your vet a quick call to check. Always best to be safe than sorry. You are your pet's primary carer and we recommend that all our pet owners keep themselves fully informed at all times.

Is CBD legal?
Yes. It is 100% legal in the UK. It is also now legal in many other countries including the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe.

Our CBD

Our CBD comes from specially sourced European crops where the laboratories have been tested by third parties. All of the hemp is grown organically and is free from heavy metals and pesticides. To preserve the purity of our raw hemp, we use a highly efficient and at the same time gentle CO2 extraction method. This is a chemical-free process of extraction that ensures the stability of the end product and quality its quality.  Because the extraction is done at a cool temperature, close to the natural state of the natural material, it reduces any degradation of the plant matter and maintains the purity of the extracted oil.

CO2 extraction is also an environmentally friendly process.
